6. Trevor Lawrence, Jacksonville Jaguars
The way Trevor Lawrence ended the 2025 regular season should have us believing in a major breakout this year. With that said, Lawrence hasn't necessarily settled into being a definitive top QB in this league, as it would be ideal to see him sustain a decent level of success all year.
Lawrence does have all the tools and appears to also have those intangible 'gamer' qualities that make you believe in him when things get tight and the stakes are higher. He was an 'official' MVP candidate last year and could end up in a similar conversation this year.
5. Bo Nix, Denver Broncos
The Denver Broncos' success with Bo Nix is not some silly coincidence. Nix and the Broncos have won 24 regular season games and were truly a Nix broken ankle away from appearing in the Super Bowl, and if Nix doesn't break his ankle and the Broncos do end up playing in Super Bowl LX, you have to wonder how much different the conversation is with Nix this offseason.
It's clear that the Broncos have a QB who checks most, if not all of the boxes, and he now finally has a legitimate, go-to weapon on offense to help the passing production take a leap forward.
4. Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs
Patrick Mahomes is primed to suit up in Week 1, and it'll be his first game back from his major ACL injury. Mahomes' production, on paper, has not been special the past few seasons, and it is worth wondering just how great he truly is now with the production ticking down and now this major injury being a thing.
The truth, as always, is probably somewhere in the middle, and even if Mahomes can't return to his early-career self, this ranking figures to be the absolute floor.
3. Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens
A banged-up year in 2025 for Lamar Jackson should not make us forget just how elite he can be and how high his 'highs' are. Jackson can, at any point in a season, be the best player in the NFL, as his all-time skillset is simply something we may never seen in the NFL again.
2. Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals
Joe Burrow's pocket presence might be an all-time great quality. The injuries are a concern, but with the Cincinnati Bengals finally seeming to craft a competent defense, we could see the Bengals snap this playoff-drought streak, and it's a near-guarantee that Burrow, who already does have a Super Bowl appearance, will put up big-time numbers this year.
1. Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills
Josh Allen's passing production has been in a steady decline, but he's been the most consistently great player at the position in the AFC. While his 2024 MVP award is still not something that people think was warranted given how good Jackson was, Allen does almost always play at an MVP level and consistently has Buffalo atop, or near the top of the AFC.
