2. Jared Goff, Detroit Lions
Jared Goff is doing awesome things again for the Detroit Lions. He is second in the conference with nine passing touchdowns but has zero interceptions. Goff has thrown for 1,214 passing yards, which is over 300 per game, and what we're seeing here is Goff needing to produce this well.
Detroit's defense has been horrific this year, so the only way the Lions can continue winning games is if Goff continues to light it up in the box score.
Some have questioned just how good he can be given his limited mobility and overall lack of playoff success, but year in and year out, Goff is among the most productive players at the position.
Detroit could seriously be 0-4 if they had about 10 other QBs in the NFC starting for them not named Goff. He's been that good this year.
And he could end up with a career-best year if the defense can't improve.
1. Brock Purdy, San Francisco 49ers
There are some starting QBs in the NFL right now that have a lower passer rating than Brock Purdy's 89.7 QBR. Purdy is playing out of his mind right now and would be the MVP of the league if the season ended today.
He has 11 touchdown passes, which is two more than the next-closest QBs, and he has a 126.2 passer rating, 69.9 completion percentage, and is averaging over 250 yards per game.
There really isn't any argument here - Purdy is playing the best football of any starting QB in the NFC, and he deserves to be the top-ranked passer in our power rankings. The San Francisco 49ers being 4-0 despite all the injuries is wild, but Purdy's elite play this year has helped the team get to this point.
Purdy actually only ranks 8th in the conference in completions, but that also goes to show you how productive he has been with minimal passing volume. His 113 attempts rank just 9th in the league.
