28. Houston Texans (0-4)

Houston continues to fall in our power rankings, and this has officially gotten ugly, folks. The Texans are now winless across their first four weeks, and the defense, which has been their identity in recent years, has totally cratered. For the most part, QB CJ Stroud has been fine this year. He actually threw for 347 yards and two touchdowns and helped his team score 30 points at home, which should have been plenty, and it should be plenty for most teams in the league.

If we want to boil the Texans issue down to one thing for the sake of making it easy, the defense’s regression this year has to be the top issue. Stroud has five touchdown passes on the year ith zero interceptions and does have two games with a passer rating above 100.

He’s certainly not been great, but he’s arguably been better than the 2024 and 2025 seasons. Going forward, Houston needs to figure out what the heck the issue is on defense, and if that unit can somehow get back to how they played last year, there could be a sliver of a chance that they figure this season out.

27. Washington Commanders (1-3)

It’s never a good thing when your QB1 and QB2 are hurt. Washington had to turn to third-string QB Athan Kaliakmanis in Week 4. He finished with 186 yards, one touchdown, and one interception on 15/33 passing.

Washington is in a bad spot. They’re now 1-3 on the season but at least could get Jayden Daniels back soon. The thing with the Commanders, though, is that this team doesn’t scare you much of anywhere, and the starting QB has now been hurt quite a bit since the 2025 season.

Despite this current regime only being in year three, you have a feeling that, outside of a major season turnaround, some changes could come. The Commanders’ roster is average, at best, and the QB can’t seem to stay on the field consistently.

This franchise could have something special in Daniels, but he simply needs to stay on the field. Without a solid infrastructure around him, though, health is always going to come into question. Anyway, the Commanders got blown out in London in Week 4 and are close to spiraling if you ask me.
