8. Detroit Lions (2-1)
Detroit played on Sunday Night Football
The Detroit Lions will have played on Sunday Night Football, and while I believe the Lions should win this one, this game is likely going to unfold how it has each week thus far - the offense puts up a ton of points, and the defense surrenders a ton of points.
The Lions have not held an opponent to fewer than 24 points this year, but they have scored 31 points in all three games thus far. Detroit actually has a negative point differential, which could end up being a huge indicator of just how good this team could be later in the season when they have more games, but they’re better than Carolina, their Week 4 foe.
Detroit desperately needs defensive help, and I do find it a bit odd that Joey Porter Jr. wasn’t dealt to the Lions.
Anyway, the Lions are a good, but flawed team. Jared Goff is a very good QB and can command a high-volume passing attack, and while it is much easier said than done, the Lions can ascend to the top of the NFC North this year and win the division for a third time in four years if that defense can get something figured out.
I would expect a win on Sunday Night Football for Dan Campbell’s crew.
7. Los Angeles Rams (2-2)
I guess this is a good spot for the Los Angeles Rams? The Rams looked dead in the water, as a scoreless third quarter had this team losing 20-10 entering the final frame. A 14-point fourth quarter sealed the deal, though, and now the Rams avoid starting 1-3, which would have felt rather unbelievable if it happened.
Matthew Stafford tossed 317 passing yards, but he did throw two interceptions. He now has six interceptions on the season and four over his last two games. His passer rating has been 74.1 and 63.9 in Weeks 3 and 4. I am not sure it’s wild to think that Stafford is in the middle of a regression given his age, as he did throw eight interruptions all of last year and is now already at that total this year.
His 80.6 passer rating is also nearly 30 points lower than it was in 2025. The Rams should still figure this thing out overall, but this was not the best of wins, and I do believe there are some valid questions brewing with this team.
