We're through one month of the 2026 NFL Season, and while it is still early for many teams, both good and bad, the wheels might start turning for a handful of teams. We could soon approach a point in time where some bold coaching moves are made.

Obviously, we're talking about the in-season head coach firings that happen just about every year. It's a brutal reminder of just how tough the NFL can be, and with the way certain teams are playing right now, it really isn't a stretch to think that there could be some firings coming.

We aren't advocating for anyone to be fired, but instead, we're merely ranking who we believe to be on the hot seat based on how their teams have played this year and any overall lack of success in previous years.

5. Shane Steichen, Indianapolis Colts

Yes, the Indianapolis Colts have now won two games in a row, but they're a largely irrelevant team with a roster that doesn't scare you anywhere. At this point, the Colts need to look to the front office to potentially make some change, as General Manager Chris Ballard has had virtually no legitmate, winning success on the job with Indy.

But Shane Steichen could be the first to go, as the in-season firings can sometimes spark a team, and if the Colts decision-makers feel like it's their only shot at getting into the playoffs, which I would have to believe is the expectation this year, Steichen might be shown the door.

The Colts do have some winnable games coming up against Pittsburgh and Tennessee, so potentially getting to 4-2 would absolutely take Steichen off this list. Other coaches that I almost placed at No. 5 instead of Steichen included DeMeco Ryans of the Houston Texans and Matt LaFleur of the Green Bay Packers, as those guys are currently in some tough waters at the moment.

The Texans being 0-4 is flat-out gross, but because of the overall lack of success in Steichen's tenure, he gets the nod here.
