Without good quarterback play, no team in the NFL is going to sustain any sort of success. Sure, you can get by with average play at the most important position in sports, but it's simply not sustainable for the long-term.

Through one month of the season, as it would be, the best teams in the NFL are all getting excellent or close-to-excellent play from their signal-callers, and it's not a coincidence. There is a ton of football left, as we're only a quarter of the way through the season (23.53 percent, technically).

As midseason approaches, there could end up being a more accurate representation of how the QB hierarchy across the NFL truly looks. For now, we'll take a conference-view of the QBs. Let's dive into our updated QB rankings following Week 4 in the AFC. We're using 2026 production as the basis for our rankings.

Updated AFC QB rankings following wild Week 4 action

16. Malik Willis, Miami Dolphins

Malik Willis has one (1) touchdown pass through four games. He's completed less than 60 percent of his passes and might end up being on a team that struggles to find one win this year.

The Miami Dolphins are flat-out bad, and it's not like Willis has much talent himself, either. It's a lose-lose situation.

15. Cam Ward, Tennessee Titans

The first four games of Cam Ward's second year in the NFL have not been pretty. The Tennessee Titans are 0-4 on the season, and Ward has just three touchdown passes and is averaging only 181.5 passing yards per game.

The Titans aren't exactly oozing with talent on offense, but Ward just hasn't really shown much this year. He was the first overall pick in a largely weaker QB class, at least, that's what the idea was, and I believe we're not far off from Ward simply being a bust.
