2. Kansas City Chiefs (5-0)
The Kansas City Chiefs are now 5-0 on the season after a blowout win over the Chargers in Week 6. Patrick Mahomes had an interception, but he also went 22/30 for 272 yards. The team got another awesome performance from Walker, who added 128 yards and two touchdowns on just 19 carries, which comes out to 6.7 yards per carry.
Xavier Worthy led the way with 73 yards on seven receptions as well. You definitely would have liked to have seen the Chiefs put up more than 22 points against the lowly Chargers, but it didn’t seem like this team had to break much of a sweat.
You still naturally have concerns about Walker’s workload and the Chiefs pass-catching talent, but they keep winning games and are now 5-0 on the season. Right now, it’s hard to bet against the Chiefs in any way.
And that non-playoff year in 2025 does seem to be a very obvious outlier, as they have already almost hit their 2025 win total here in 2026.
1. San Francisco 49ers (5-0)
49ers play on Monday Night Football
I am not exaggerating when I say that the San Francisco 49ers could shut out Washington on Monday Night Football. The Commanders are one of the more dysfunctional teams in the sport right now, and the 49ers are anything but.
Yes, the 49ers are banged up, which is a yearly occurrence, but this year just feels different, doesn’t it? The offense and defense are simply excellent. Brock Purdy is playing like the MVP of the league, and Raheem Morris has this defense playing fast and physical.
If the 49ers are able to get healthy down the stretch, it might be impossible for this team not to make a deep playoff run. They have been to the Super Bowl twice in the Kyle Shanahan era, in 2019 and 2023.
Right now, it feels like this year could be the year for Shanahan. There is a long way to go, but I don’t see how the 49ers aren’t the best team in the sport at the moment.
