24. Atlanta Falcons (2-4)

The Atlanta Falcons dropped to 2-4 on the season after a lost to Chicago in Week 6, but Michael Penix Jr. does keep playing efficient football. Penix tossed three touchdowns on 19/33 passing. He added 225 yards as well.

The big thing for the Falcons might actually be what happens beyond 2026, as this team, ideally, needs to see Penix stay on the field for the rest of the season and cement himself as someone at least worth bringing back into the mix in 2027.

The franchise QB has evaded them since the prime days of Matt Ryan, and Penix has really played well this year, but the injury concern is just flat-out massive, and it’s simply not always as easy as putting it behind him.

And even at 2-4, the Falcons are very much in the mix in the NFC South and could win the division with a 9-8 record, for example, depending on how things shake out with the rest of the teams.

Keep the faith, Falcons fans. Fun things are still possible this year.

23. Dallas Cowboys (2-3)

Cowboys will have played on Sunday Night Football

Dallas doesn’t necessarily have to win this game, but given how atrocious the defense has been this season, you get the sense that the clock is already ticking for that side of the ball, especially with the in-season addition of Mike Pettine. If the defense can’t figure it out soon, defensive coordinator Christian Parker could be a ‘one and done’ coach.

The Cowboys 2026 season has unfolded very similarly to how their 2025 season did, unfortunately. The offense is incredibly fun to watch, and Dak Prescott continues to be an excellent QB.

With that said, none of that mattered in 2025, and none of it will matter in 2026 if the defense remains horrible. The Cowboys honestly feel like an average team altogether, but they’d do a lot for themselves if they found a way to beat Green Bay on Sunday Night Football.

And while this team does ooze dysfunction, you can’t really fault them for being active personnel-wise in trying to improve the defense.
