22. New York Giants (3-2-1)
What we have seen with the New York Giants is what happens when a team does not have their starting QB. It’s really that simple. The Giants sent Jameis Winston to the bench for JJ McCarthy, who actually went a bit insane in the fourth quarter. The Giants did lose this one, though, and are now 3-2-1 on the season.
We have talked about why the Giants could be a frisky team this year, and we have also talked about how much more solid of a team they would be if they were 3-2-1 with Jaxson Dart. Dart may end up missing the entire season.
If nothing else, the Giants are proving to be a fun, formidable, well-coached team. They likely won’t make the playoffs this year, and the entire point of this season kind of went out the window the second Dart went down, but the Giants do strike you as a team that could play spoiler later in the season, and there is a chance that this team could finish with a winning record. Those things could go a long way.
21. New Orleans Saints (2-4)
The New Orleans Saints got back on track with a win over the Giants in Week 6. The Saints are now 2-4 on the season and well within range in the subpar NFC South. Frankly, with the Saints winning this one, I am jumping back on the hype train. Tyler Shough played pretty well this week, and the main thing the Saints have to figure out is this defense.
We have seen the offense put up a ton of points this year, but, like other teams in the league, we’re seeing the defense let the other side of the ball down. Even if the Saints figured out a way to field an average defense this year, it’d probably end up being good enough for this team to capture the division.
Keep an eye out for the Saints going forward. There is still hope for this team.
