4. Von Miller moves up on the top-10 sacks list of all-time
The Dallas Cowboys’ offense is not the only unit on the team looking to blow off some steam on Sunday. The defense could not stop anything in the second half of Week 1, leading to the offense only having two offensive possessions for the whole half. The defense will look to shore itself up against a weaker offensive line.
If Von Miller has anything to do with that, he has an opportunity to move up on the career sacks leaderboard. Currently sitting at number nine on the list, Miller can move up to a tie for eighth with just a half a sack on Sunday. The pass rusher can move up to as high as seventh place with one and a half sacks against the Commanders, in what is a revenge game for Miller.
3. Derrick Henry moves up in the top-10 rushing yards list of all-time
At the age of 32, Derrick Henry is still moving like a 20-something-year-old running back, as seen in his performance against the Indianapolis Colts in the kickoff game. The Baltimore Ravens running back needs 98 yards against the New Orleans Saints, who bled rushing yards against the Detroit Lions last weekend, to pass Eric Dickerson and move into ninth in career rushing yards. There will be plenty more opportunity to see Henry move up on this list, as well as others as the season goes on.
2. Los Angeles Chargers rushing touchdowns by a quarterback record
It is the same situation for Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert as it was last week. One touchdown on the ground breaks a three-way tie for the franchise record of rushing touchdowns by a quarterback. The good news is that the Chargers play against the Las Vegas Raiders this week, a team that allowed a quarterback rushing touchdown to the Miami Dolphins in Week 1 of the season.
1. The Buffalo Bills’ first game in the new stadium
A big moment takes place on Thursday night with the first regular season game at the new Highmark Stadium for the Buffalo Bills as the team takes on the Detroit Lions. It should be a beautiful matchup for a first game to open the new home on. The opening of the new stadium will be on full display as the Thursday Night Football crew makes its first appearance of the NFL season.
