6. New England Patriots (3-2)
The New England Patriots are an interesting team. QB Drake Maye began the year horrifically, but he's really cleaned up his play over the past two weeks and seem to be turning a corner in that regard, but the roster is banged up, and we do have more 'bad' play from Maye and the offense this year than we do 'good' play.
With that being said, wide receiver AJ Brown could be nearing his return to the lineup, so that could open things up on that side of the ball, as Maye does still need to prove that he isn't regressing from a year ago.
The Patriots come in at No. 6 in our power rankings and are still right in the mix to make some noise in the AFC this year. The AFC does have some very good squads, but if Maye picks his play up, the Pats are going to find themselves right in that mix as the season goes on.
Firmly in a playoff position at the moment, the Pats come in at No. 6 in our power rankings as Week 6 approaches.
5. Denver Broncos (3-2)
The Denver Broncos have played a mega-tough schedule thus far against teams with the following records:
4-0
4-1
2-3
5-0
0-5
Yes, the Chargers are winless, but divisional games are notoriously tough in the NFL, and the 2-3 Los Angeles Rams are better than their record suggests. Denver being 3-2 is honestly impressive, as the offense just hasn't been able to move the ball that much, but both the offense and defense have stepped up late in games.
The Broncos are showing signs of their 2025 version with the late-game heroics, and if that continues throughout 2026, they'll be in a position to make another deep playoff run. Denver gets into the top five in our power rankings.
