14. Kansas City Chiefs
I almost ranked the Kansas City Chiefs lower than this, but No. 14 will do for now. The Chiefs have entered into a new-ish era where the front office has to begin hitting on more draft picks. During the Super Bowl back in 2024 and in 2025, we’ve begun to see just how flawed this roster is and was and how much Patrick Mahomes has had to carry the load.
And that simply isn’t going to keep up into 2026. Even when Mahomes was healthy in 2025, the Chiefs weren’t a majorly threatening team, and I’m not sure that’s going to be the case in 2026. Sure, if you want to use the argument that the Chiefs ‘will just figure it out,’ that’s fine, but this roster does have major concerns all over the place.
The wide receiver room is a mess, at best, and the secondary is suddenly quite barren after losing Trent McDuffie, Jaylen Watson, and Cook in the offseason. Yes, they traded McDuffie, but he was still a very good player.
All I’m saying is that we should pump the brakes on the Chiefs hype. Sure, a winning record is possible, but they have some work to do after a 6-11 season
13. Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jacksonville Jaguars lost Etienne and Devin Lloyd in free agency, which is going to hurt, and even with those two in the picture, I’m not sure the Jaguars roster would be that special. Yes, this team did win 13 games last year, but I almost wonder if this was a bit of a lightning-in-a-bottle-type of season
While I am high on Trevor Lawrence, winning 13 games was affording the Jags virtually zero margin for error, and the talent loss this offseason could also contribute to a regression. When I look at what Houston did this offseason and also look at the other competent teams in the AFC, I struggle to rank the Jags higher than this.
It feels like a Wild Card berth is where this team is headed in 2026, but alas, I could be very wrong. What Jags fans should be excited for, though, is just how good Lawrence was to end the 2025 season. If that can sustain itself into 2026, the Jaguars are going to blow expectations out of the water again.
