6. Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jaguars are justifiably one of the biggest risers on our NFL Power Rankings this week after their complete domination of the Cleveland Browns.
Yes, it was against the Browns. We get it.
Just because it was against the Browns doesn't mean you can completely write it off. Good teams beat the brakes off the bad teams, and the Jaguars absolutely beat the brakes off the Cleveland Browns. And you have to tip your cap to Trevor Lawrence, who was on an MVP pace in the second half of the 2025 season, and picked up right where he left off in 2026.
Lawrence threw four touchdown passes to four different receivers. The Jaguars had 5 sacks and 8 QB hits against Deshaun Watson. They dominated time of possession (33:51-26:09) and only had 4 penalties for 25 yards. The operation was crisp for Liam Coen's crew.
5. San Francisco 49ers
Last week: 12th
The 49ers are one of the biggest "risers" on this week's NFL Power Rankings. I don't know that there was a more impressive team in all of Week 1 so far.
The 49ers took down the Los Angeles Rams in Australia, and they didn't just take the Rams down, but they completely dismantled them from start to finish. It was a demoralizing loss for the Rams, and for the 49ers and their fans, it had to be on the cusp of catharsis.
Brock Purdy played MVP-caliber football. The defense of the 49ers was absolutely stellar. Mike Evans was a machine on 3rd downs, especially early in the game.
Maybe most importantly, the 49ers' offensive line played better than any unit in the entire NFL this week. They didn't allow a single sack, and the 49ers ran for 174 yards behind them.
