Week 1 of the 2026 NFL Season is now in the books, and with Week 2 beginning, we'll slowly begin to see the NFL hierarchy shake out. It's not always smart to put too much stock into Week 1 action, as there will be some teams that started out 1-0 that miss the playoffs, and the opposite is true for teams that start 0-1.
Heck, we may even see teams starting 2-0 missing the playoffs, and 0-2 teams making the playoffs. With 17 games in the season, there is enough time for some wild scenarios to play out. While the Week 1 action wasn't all truly indicative of how certain teams will play this year, it was accurate across the league for a handful of teams.
Let's keep the weekly power rankings rolling and now look at our updated list of the Super Bowl contenders with Week 2 approaching.

10. Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jacksonville Jaguars come in at No. 10 in our power rankings. Jacksonville is now 14-4 in the regular season dating back to the start of the 2025 campaign, and over the last seven regular season games, quarterback Trevor Lawrence has genuinely been playing at an MVP level.
Beating the Cleveland Browns is something that 31 other teams are able to do, so this is less about the Week 1 win and more about just how good this team has been in the Liam Coen era, as it does finally seem like this team has found the long-term answer for Lawrence and this franchise.
I do worry about the overall roster talent, as it's a firmly good roster and not a great one, but if Lawrence can keep this up, and Jacksonville keeps stacking wins, it's going to be quite hard for us not to look at this team as a contender.
9. Chicago Bears
A 59-point performance for the Chicago Bears in Week 1 has them now at No. 9 in our contender rankings. The team's defense could still end up being a concern, but the team's potential leap on offense could cover up for any defensive weaknesses. It may not end up being that simple, but the offense could be what gets this team deep into the playoffs.
And if it becomes clear around mid-season that Chicago is for real, I'd be shocked if the front office did make some sort of major trade deadline move.
