16. Las Vegas Raiders (2-0)
Just like we all predicted, the Raiders are 2-0 and are… checks notes… No. 16 in our power rankings.
Just like we all predicted!
Hats off to Klint Kubiak and the Raiders - this team is off to a 2-0 start. Their first win did come against Miami, but beating Los Angeles was a solid victory. Las Vegas isn’t going to make the playoffs or anything, and will likely finish with a losing record, but winning is winning.
And for the time being, they deserve a decent spot in our power rankings. The Raiders do have some fun pieces on both sides of the ball, and while the team might still be a full year away from competing for a playoff spot, the infrastructure appears to be set, to a degree.
Kirk Cousins already has six passing touchdowns and a 100.5 passer rating through two games, because of course he does.
If nothing else, Cousins appears to still be good enough for this team to hang around against most opponents.
15. Dallas Cowboys (1-1)
After a bad primetime loss against the Giants in Week 1, the Dallas Cowboys responded nicely against Washington in Week 2, earning a blowout win. The defense seemed to play a lot better, and the offense was playing as they usually do at home.
The major story from this game was Daniels leaving with a dislocated elbow, which could put the shaky Commanders on even shakier ground this year.
As for Dallas, this team is pretty straight-forward - if the defense can play well at some point, they’ll make the playoffs, if not, this year will pan out how the 2025 season did.
While Dallas likely won’t again have one of the worst units in the league, it is possible that this defense simply isn’t good enough this year. I believe we’re still too early in the season to stay for sure, but getting back on the winning track is a good rebound from Week 1.
