6. Chicago Bears (1-1)
The Bears scored 59 points in Week 1 against the Carolina Panthers, looking like they might challenge the 2013 Denver Broncos for the most points scored in a season (606).
Then they scored just 3 points in a Week 2 loss against the Vikings...
Of course, context matters. It was a rain-soaked game and neither team was exactly looking like an unstoppable force offensively. The biggest development to come out of the game, aside from the fact that the Bears lost, was the fact that Caleb Williams was carted off the field. Bears fans breathed a sigh of relief when it was revealed to just be a week-to-week hamstring injury, but Williams has been getting absolutely hammered on the internet.
Not every week is going to be a rain-soaked mess. The Bears' offense is still averaging 31 points per game despite scoring only 3 in Sunday's loss. We know this group can be explosive.
In Week 3, they might be trotting Case Keenum out there to start at QB with Williams on the mend and Tyson Bagent dealing with a concussion.
5. Minnesota Vikings (2-0)
The Minnesota Vikings absolutely deserve some credit for the way they've shown resilience under head coach Kevin O'Connell.
With Kyler Murray getting injured early in his first start with the team, they had to turn to Carson Wentz almost immediately, and he has come through for them. Not only has Wentz done his job as a backup, but the Vikings have managed to start the season 2-0 with critical wins against division opponents.
That's massive.
The most surprising development with this team, as of right now, is the play of their defense. With so many moving parts and new pieces (especially on the defensive front), I was skeptical that Brian Flores was going to be able to keep that unit playing at an elite level.
I underestimated the Vikings' defense, but this time, I'm going to appropriately estimate them.
