2. Seattle Seahawks (2-0)
If nobody else is going to say it, I'll say it: What the Seahawks are doing with Drew Lock at quarterback is one of the most impressive things in the NFL right now.
When Lock came in at the quarterback position during the Seahawks' season opener, I thought they were done for. That should have been the opening the Patriots needed to go ahead and get a small measure of revenge after the Super Bowl last season, right?
Wrong.
Lock led the Seahawks to an impressive come-from-behind win, and then followed that up with an absolutely dominating performance in Week 2 against the Arizona Cardinals. In fact, the entire team was dominant on Sunday against the Cardinals.
The Mike Macdonald defense is for real. That is a unit that flies around, makes plays, and doesn't give you more than an inch if they don't have to. They already have four interceptions this season (3 off of Drake Maye) and are proving to be elite against the pass despite some key losses in the secondary.
1. San Francisco 49ers (2-0)
For two weeks in a row, we've seen the San Franscisco 49ers systematically dismantle their opponents. It hasn't even been relatively close.
Beating the Miami Dolphins as handily as they did wasn't shocking, but it was shocking to see them completely destroy the Rams in Week 1.
Against Miami, Brock Purdy threw for 287 yards on just 20 completed passes. He had two touchdowns and two incompletions on the day. The 49ers' offense averaged 7.8 yards per play against the Dolphins, and had as many touchdowns (5) as they did 3rd down conversions (5-of-7).
At some point, this team is going to run into a challenge. But so far, they are looking like one of the most well-oiled machines in the entire league. Kyle Shanahan has his guys playing some scary-good football through two weeks.
