8. San Francisco 49ers (Last week: 6)
The San Francisco 49ers are No. 8 in our power rankings with Week 3 approaching. The 49ers have two blowout wins thus far, but this is also a team that continually deals with injuries, and that has been the case thus far in the 2026 season.
There has to be something wrong with the way this team practices or recovers, as it seems like the bulk of the Kyle Shanahan era has been injury-riddled. Until this team can put the injuries behind them, they likely won't be able to make a Super Bowl, but both sides of the ball have played marvelous football thus far, so it's hard not to look at the 49ers as contenders.
That could absolutely change two weeks from now, but with this team already having two Super Bowl trips under their belt in the Shanahan era, the 49ers could very well have a deep playoff run coming.
7. Baltimore Ravens (Last week: 4)
The Baltimore Ravens blew a lead to the New Orleans Saints at home, but the Saints are better than you think. The Ravens do check all the boxes that a Super Bowl winner needs to check, though we have seen this team falter in the playoffs time and time again.
Baltimore brought in a new head coach in Jesse Minter, so there could be some year one growing pains, but with a top-10 roster in terms of overall talent, the Ravens might simply begin to put something together as the season goes on, perhaps peaking at the right time.
They have enough firepower to make a deep playoff run as well, so this could be a matter of the team gaining more chemistry as the weeks roll on under Minter. Baltimore takes the No. 7 spot in our power rankings, but they do drop three spots from a week ago and have some things to clean up.
