6. Kansas City Chiefs (Last week: Unranked)
Are the Kansas City Chiefs back? Through two weeks, this team's offense has looked awesome, as Kenneth Walker has been right at the center of it, and there is reason to believe that Patrick Mahomes will continue to get better as he gets further removed from his ACL injury.
Now, yes, while the Chiefs are 2-0, they needed overtime to beat the 0-2 Indianapolis Colts and do have some personnel concerns on defense, as there aren't many top-end players on that side of the ball. On offense, the team has given Walker 56 touches on offense through two games. Twenty-eight touches per game over a 17-game seaosn would be 476 touches. Walker has never registered more than 255 touches in a season.
He's also struggled to stay on the field at times. The Chiefs will need to slowly reduce his workload as the season goes on, as he's not a bell-cow running back. We could see the offense cool off a bit in that event.
Overall, though, the Chiefs have shattered expecatations thus far and come in at No. 6 in our Super Bowl contender power rankings
5. Denver Broncos (Last week: 5)
The Broncos were able to get the best of the Jaguars at home after losing to them late in the 2025 regular season. If the head-to-head tiebreaker needs to come into play, the Broncos have it. They also have a top-3 roster in the sport and a QB in Bo Nix that seems to heat up when his team needs him the most.
This team is also a healthy ankle away from having advanced to the Super Bowl last year, and with the roster largely the same, there really isn't anything obvious that would prevent Denver from making it to the big game this year.
While a 14-win season might not be on the table this year, the Broncos are every bit of a juggernaut and have a lot going for them right now.
