12. Houston Texans
The Houston Texans are yet another stunning team for all the wrong reasons this season.
They are 0-4, and even if there was some optimism that they could repeat their own history and climb out of an 0-3 hole like they did last year, that optimism feels like it’s fading rather quickly.
Although there still has to be reverence and respect for Houston’s defense because of how dominant they’ve been in the past, there is a reason why DeMeco Ryans is taking over play-calling duties entering Week 5. They rank 28th against the pass so far this season, 27th in points allowed, 16th in 3rd down defense, and 18th in red zone defense.
When you’re used to ranking in the top 5 of pretty much every category, those are tough pills to swallow over a four-game sample. This team has simply been unable to overcome its defensive struggles, but maybe they have a get-right game in their sights with the Titans on deck.
11. Pittsburgh Steelers
The last time we saw the Pittsburgh Steelers on the field, they failed to complete a comeback attempt against Deshaun Watson and the Cleveland Browns.
Playing on the road and on a short week is undoubtedly a difficult task, but for a team that won its division last year, you just expect a little bit more.
I’m starting to wonder if it’s time we really reevaluate what we expect from this Steelers team at all. The biggest story for Pittsburgh so far this season is the 12-year Minecraft project from former head coach Mike Tomlin. Otherwise, this team has been seriously underwhelming.
They ended the Joey Porter Jr. saga by trading him off to the Dallas Cowboys, and it just generally feels like this team is trending down in all categories.
