2. Jacksonville Jaguars
Last week: 2nd
Whether they are winning pretty or winning ugly, the Jacksonville Jaguars just keep winning.
The only blemish on their record so far is a Week 2 loss on the road against the Denver Broncos, but this Jaguars team is clearly one of the best and most well-rounded in the NFL.
We’ve seen them win tight games against really good teams, and we’ve seen them blow teams out.
Trevor Lawrence and Parker Washington continue to be an absolutely lethal combination. Washington caught six passes for 125 yards (20.7 yards per reception) and a pair of touchdowns.
As good as that duo is/has been, the Jaguars proved against the Eagles how they can play complementary football in all three phases. It was the special teams that sealed the win in London against the Eagles, with Ameer Abdullah returning a kickoff 53 yards, leaving one second on the clock and setting up a 57-yard game-winning field goal from Cam Little, who remains a ridiculous weapon in the kicking game.
1. San Francisco 49ers
Last week: 1st
The San Francisco 49ers are an absolute unit right now.
The 49ers are 5-0, and it feels like nothing and no one can stop this team. They just won in Week 5 on the road against the reigning Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks, and they did it in clutch fashion.
Plus, Mike Evans gave us the best moment of the entire week around the NFL when he forced Trevon Diggs to turn around so he could see his jersey and find out who was talking trash to him on the field. Absolutely priceless stuff from Evans, who had 113 yards and a touchdown on 7 receptions against the Seahawks.
The 49ers and Seahawks were trading giveaways, filling up the scoreboard, and gave us a classic matchup between two NFC powerhouses in Week 5. The fact that the 49ers were able to win this game and give themselves such a significant cushion early this season is absolutely massive.
This game featured 7 total turnovers. Dre Greenlaw was ejected. There was 4th quarter drama, but the 49ers made one more play, and they kept hold of the top spot in our rankings this week.
