30. Los Angeles Chargers

Last week: 29th

The Los Angeles Chargers are beaten. They are battered. They are broken. They are now 0-5.

There’s most likely no coming out of that hole, even if there was hope they could repeat their own franchise history going into this week. The last 0-4 team to make the playoffs was the 1992 San Diego Chargers, but coming out of an 0-5 hole?

They would have to be trailblazers in that regard.

And right now, I’m not sure what the answer is. The Chargers are almost always snake-bitten with injuries. They were less than a patchwork offensive line against the Denver Broncos. They needed Ladd McConkey to dress for the game just in case they needed a body at receiver.

It’s rough times for the Chargers right now.

29. New Orleans Saints

Last week: 24th

Unfortunately, I’m going to have to hop off the Saints bandwagon for the time being. Perhaps there will be some room on it later in the season, but right now, this team is letting preseason believers like me down.

Not only did the Saints lose to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, but they were absolutely shut down by the Brian Flores defense and couldn’t get anything going.

Tyler Shough threw a couple of interceptions. The Saints couldn’t run. After getting run out of their own building (quite literally) on Monday against the Falcons, the Saints got absolutely shut down.

The really difficult hurdle for the Saints to overcome now that they’re 1-4 to start this season is the fact that they are 0-3 at home. As high as this team’s potential is, they are not coming close to living up to it right now. Losing to the now 5-0 Vikings is not the final proverbial nail in the coffin for this Saints team, but the last couple of games have shown us just how far this team has yet to go.
