26. Washington Commanders
Last week: 27th
Jayden Daniels was back for the Washington Commanders in Week 5, and he was back to doing Jayden Daniels things.
Unfortunately, so was the Commanders’ defense…
With a…commanding…27-13 lead at the start of the 4th quarter, the Washington defense promptly gave up back-to-back touchdown drives. One of nine plays, the next of 10 plays. It was absolutely atrocious.
Then, as both the Commanders and Giants traded the football in overtime, it came down to an obvious field goal attempt for Washington, but as they were trying to set up the field goal for their kicker, they ended up accidentally running out the clock.
You simply can’t make this stuff up.
What should have been a clear win for the Commanders – multiple times over – accidentally became a tie. And nobody likes those. Yikes.
25. Houston Texans
Last week: 28th
The Houston Texans got out of the winless column in Week 5 with a bit of a get-right game, at least in a number of ways, against the Tennessee Titans.
Sadly, that’s pretty much what the Titans have become for others these days…
The Texans were probably the most surprising winless team in the league, especially because of what we’ve come to expect from their defense. And it was the Houston defense that really took it personal in Week 5. They held the Titans to just 3 points and 187 yards of offense on the day, forcing a couple of turnovers in the process.
Houston’s offense is still a major question mark, especially in the running game. Not that he’s going to fix that area of hte team, but Houston has now acquired former 1st-round receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. in a trade with the Cardinals, reuniting him with CJ Stroud.
If nothing else, CJ Stroud is going to need to take the majority of the pressure upon his own shoulders to get this offense on track and cashing in on red zone trips (just 2-for-4 vs. Tennessee).
