24. New York Jets

Last week: 26th

The biggest story from Week 5 for the New York Jets is that they were able to secure a win at home against the Cleveland Browns, improving to 2-3 on the season.

The biggest story within that? How about the play of rookie edge defender David Bailey? He looks like a star in the making, and he made his presence felt in a huge way against the Browns.

Bailey almost single-handedly wrecked the game for the New York defense, racking up 7 total tackles, 3 sacks, 3 tackles for loss, and a whopping 4 QB hits all on his own. He was a game-wrecker out there.

The Jets have absolutely needed a presence like that off the edge, and in a tight game impacted by the weather, you see just how valuable it is to have a playmaker like that getting after the quarterback. He was absolutely the difference in a game in which the Jets only had 14 first downs as an offense.

23. Indianapolis Colts

Last week: 23rd

Out of all 32 teams in the NFL, the Indianapolis Colts are one of them. I’ve been saying relatively the same thing all year about the Colts, and it boils down to something very simple: I can’t figure this team out.

The Colts go as Jonathan Taylor goes. When he’s running the ball well, this is a team that can pretty much hang with anybody, even in shootout situations. But when he doesn’t run well?

We saw an example of that on Sunday as the Colts fell to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Colts couldn’t cash in on their red zone attempts, converting just one of their three trips into a touchdown. And the Steelers, to their credit, did a great job of buckling down when the Colts got down tight.

The Colts have to be careful. The AFC South is quickly getting away from them with the Jaguars starting the season 4-1. The AFC is a muddy mess here early on in the season, so the Wild Card is still in play, but this is one of those teams that just feels like it has zero margin for error.
