13. Washington Commanders
The Commanders showed some serious fight against the San Francisco 49ers, but for the second straight week, they also showed some mind-numbingly bad situational awareness.
Remember a couple of weeks ago when the Commanders let time expire in overtime when they had a chance to win the game on a field goal? They didn’t have anything that bad happen against the 49ers, but Dan Quinn being surprised to find out it was 4th down early in the game is not exactly what you want to see from your head coach.
The Commanders now won’t have Terry McLaurin for the rest of the season due to a knee injury, so even in the NFC East, they are in rough shape at 1-4-1.
12. New Orleans Saints
Just when I decide I’m going to back off my New Orleans Saints support, they go and pull off a stunt like we saw against the Giants last week.
And totally redeem themselves.
I won’t say I”m fully back on the Saints’ hype train, but I still believe in this team. It’s hard not to when you see the type of explosive offense we saw from them against New York.
They are off to France this week to take on the Pittsburgh Steelers, and while that’s not exactly a “home” game for them, they have three straight games right now where they are the “home” team. This is a crucial stretch of the season for the Saints against some opponents they can beat. If ever there was a time for this team to get hot, it’s right now.
11. Dallas Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys have been an utter disappointment so far this season. After the Joey Porter Jr. trade, there was some optimism that Dallas could go on a little run. They somewhat shockingly went on the road and beat the Houston Texans, but then completely laid an egg against the Jalon Daniels-led Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
They continued to struggle – especially offensively – in their loss last week against the Packers.
But just when you think you’re all the way out on this Cowboys team, they’re going to put up 38 points and suck you right back in. Their game against the Eagles in Week 7 is an absolute must-win.
