14. Los Angeles Rams
Last week: 20th
There it is.
What we saw from the Los Angeles Rams in their road game against the Las Vegas Raiders this week is precisely what we expected from them last week when they took on the Arizona Cardinals. It may have come a week late, but the Rams desperately needed to get back on track against the Raiders.
And they did.
They took out the aggression that’s been building up during their ice-cold streak lately, and hung 35 points on the Raiders, along with 199 rushing yards. It would have been 200-plus without Matthew Stafford going into victory formation.
At this point, the Rams are in damage control mode as a team. They are absolutely not out of the woods, not in their division, but there is a legitimate chance this team could be 6-4 before too long.
Their next three games are against the Chargers, Commanders, and Cardinals. They’ll face another gauntlet at that point, but hopefully, they’ll have a healthy Myles Garrett soon, and the tune can begin to change surrounding this team.
13. Pittsburgh Steelers
Last week: 18th
The Pittsburgh Steelers are sort of the chameleons of the NFL right now. They can adapt to any team they are playing against, and they can seemingly win any type of game.
Whether it’s a shootout or a defensive battle, the Steelers can win situationally, and they have players who can finish games on both sides of the ball.
The Steelers played against the New Orleans Saints in Week 7, and they traveled all the way over to France to break some new ground for the NFL’s International series. Nobody’s going to be talking about Pittsburgh’s 16-10 win over the Saints this week among the national talking heads, but the Steelers are quietly 5-2 and getting the job done in one of the toughest divisions in the league right now.
Their next two games are going to be absolutely critical in determining the trajectory of the rest of their season. They play the Cleveland Browns on November 1 before their bye week, and then they play the Bengals coming out of the bye.
Those two divisional matchups could make or break this team’s season.
