4. Kansas City Chiefs
Last week: 2nd
The Kansas City Chiefs got absolutely put in a blender in Week 7 against the Seattle Seahawks’ defense.
Playing in a primetime matchup against the reigning Super Bowl champions on the road is not an easy task, and the Seattle defense was ready for their old friend Kenneth Walker. They held Walker to just 36 yards on 14 carries (2.6 yards per carry). Funny enough, it was the Seahawks who got a 100-yard rushing performance out of Emanuel Wilson in this game.
You just never know with the NFL sometimes…
Just like every other team that has faced the Seahawks this season, the Chiefs struggled to contain Jaxon Smith-Njigba. There doesn’t really even seem to be anything limiting him at this point. Sam Darnold can throw it in his general vicinity, and he’s going to make a play.
Offensively, this was just not the Chiefs’ night at all. They didn’t even make it into the red zone. Patrick Mahomes had an interception and a lost fumble. It was a rough night against a great defense. How will the Chiefs bounce back with a road game against the Denver Broncos in Week 8?
3. Buffalo Bills
Last week: 3rd
The Bills were on a bye in Week 7***
The Buffalo Bills have clearly proven what they are going to be this season. They are once again the Josh Allen show.
Do they really want to be anything else?
The Bills had the #1 pass defense in the league last season, but they don’t look like they’re going to be #1 in anything defensively in 2026. They might figure some things out over the bye week, but it’s been rough to see the regression for the Bills on that side of the ball this season.
Still, this team is going to be just fine (they hope) if they can find a way to make sure Josh Allen has the ball last. That’s all they need.
If they give up 10 points or 30 points, it almost doesn’t matter. In order for the Bills to get over the issues they’ve had in the postseason, they are going to be looking to Josh Allen to make big plays in clutch moments. They are one of the only teams in the NFL whose success feels like it hinges entirely on one player.
