28. Washington Commanders

Last week: 29th

Commanders were on a bye in Week 7***

Even though the Commanders didn’t play in Week 7, they showed some fight and resilience the last time they took the field.

They looked like fish in a barrel against the San Francisco 49ers in the first half of their Monday night matchup, but they came storming back in the second half with some impressive complementary football on both sides of the ball.

They just couldn’t finish the job late.

Although it may not feel like it right now, it’s hard not to view the Commanders’ situation in the NFC East as being at least somewhat within reach. Their next three games are against the Eagles, Rams, and Giants, so they can make up some ground in a hurry out of the bye.

27. New York Jets

Last week: 26th

Whatever hope the Jets had of making any noise in the AFC East definitely started to fizzle on Sunday after they lost at home against the previously winless Miami Dolphins.

Rough.

Even a comeback attempt in the 4th quarter felt hollow after the fact. The plays the Jets gave up to the Dolphins showed this team’s true colors.

Regardless of the result against the Dolphins, one thing has become abundantly clear about this Jets team: They have a heck of a foundation for the future.

We once again saw huge games from Braelon Allen, Omar Cooper Jr., and Mason Taylor. David Bailey had another TFL, 0.5 sacks, and a QB hit. The future is bright for the team with three first-round picks in the 2027 NFL Draft.
