22. Carolina Panthers

Last week: 17th

What the Panthers did at home against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this weekend was absolutely horrifying. That’s what we get for having any sort of expectations on this team, apparently.

Bryce Young had a pair of interceptions in his worst game of the entire season so far. The Panthers’ defense gave up 59 points in Week 1 to the Bears, but somehow, this loss against the Buccaneers felt worse.

The Bucs were out there filling out a scoring BINGO card with a defensive touchdown and a safety on top of the traditional ways of scoring, but the really embarrassing thing for Carolina’s defense? They allowed the Bucs to achieve 17 rushing first downs.

Baker Mayfield only needed 7 completions to win the game by 30 points. That’s absolute madness.

At 3-3, there’s still plenty of time to rebound for Carolina, but it’s not looking great after this one.

21. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Last week: 28th

Once again, a team with its back against the wall comes through with an impressive win to keep their season alive.

The Buccaneers’ defense came ready to play (on the road) against one of the best passing attacks in the entire NFL. Bryce Young threw a pair of interceptions, and the Bucs’ defense came through with a touchdown and a safety in the 43-13 romp of the Panthers.

This game was exactly what the doctor ordered for Todd Bowles and his crew. The performance by the defense is something this team can truly build on moving forward. Not just the defensive scoring, either. They only allowed two red zone appearances all game.
