6. Cincinnati Bengals (5-2)

I am not sure this Cincinnati defense is where it needs to be. Allowing the Titans offense to do what they did is flat-out inexcusable. The Bengals did win, though, and move to 5-2 on the season, and with the Ravens dealing with QB issues, and the Steelers not having nearly the QB that the Bengals do, Cincy is the best team in the division, and I am not sure it’s close right now.

I know that might contradict what I just said about the defense, but we’ve see just how good this offense can be, and it’s honestly a bit scary. The Bengals do need to figure something out on that side of the ball, as Joe Burrow and the offense are flat-out humming. Burrow had five touchdown passes in Week 8.

Five!

Cincy is a really good team that at least has seen their defense step up, so perhaps the coming weeks will be kinder to Al Golden’s unit.

5. Buffalo Bills (6-1)

The Buffalo Bills saw the Ravens get to their third QB in Week 8 after two injuries to both Jackson and Huntley. It’s no good for the Ravens, but unfortunately, it’s part of the game. Buffalo, specifically the offense, didn’t exactly have their most polished up outing, but a win is a win.

Now 6-1 on the season, the Bills keep it up under first-year head coach Joe Brady, who is honestly a total 180 from Sean McDermott, who helped build this franchise to what it is today. With the Bills, we have the same conversation most weeks. They’ll win a ton of games, will probably win the AFC East, and will try to ‘slay the dragon’ in the playoffs.

But given how shaky this defense has been, their 6-1 record might actually be a bit misleading, as that defense surely won’t be able to win in January…

4. Jacksonville Jaguars (5-2)

Now 5-2 on the season after a blowout win over Indianapolis, the Jacksonville Jaguars further cement themselves as the ‘team’ in the AFC South. I guess any chances of a trap game went up in flames almost immediately.

The Jaguars were on the bye in Week 7 but did lose their Week 6 game, so I can only imagine how badly the Jags wanted to get out there and correct things from two weeks ago. This was as ‘ho hum’ of a blowout win as you’ll see - the Colts are essentially in a losing mode, as they’ve already made multiple trade deadline deals and will likely make more. At this point, they really don’t have anything to play for.

Jacksonville is a team with Super Bowl on their mind, and this was the type of game to simply ‘get right’ and correct mistakes from prior weeks. The Jaguars keep pace with the other top teams in the AFC with this win and rise in our NFL power rankings.
