6. Jahmyr Gibbs, RB, Detroit Lions
Jahmyr Gibbs has been outstanding this year and currently leads the NFL in touches, scrimmage yards, and touchdowns. He's one of two Detroit Lions players on this list, and he's helping the Lions sport the 3rd-ranked scoring offense in the NFL. Gibbs is also leading the NFL in rushing yards per game and is truly pacing to be one of the best running backs of this generation.
Right now, Gibbs is on pace for 2,569 scrimmage yards, which would set the single-season record. If that pace does keep up all year, Gibbs would like be a Pro Bowler, first-team All-Pro, and would surely have to at least be an MVP candidate. If there is anyone who can break the streak of QBs winning MVPs, it could be Gibbs this year.
5. Caleb Williams, QB, Chicago Bears
Caleb Williams is completing nearly 71 percent of his passes and has six touchdowns against just one interception this year. The Chicago Bears are 6-2 and feel like a top-3 team in football right now. Williams is also emerging as a straight-up playmaker at the position. He can do it all, is one of the more well-known figures in football, and is actually darn good.
Williams keeping up this level of production for the rest of the season and Chicago again winning the NFC North would create a situation where the Bears could see Williams taking home the MVP. He did miss some time earlier this year, which will hurt his production, but he's becoming such a well-known figure that it might be nearly impossible not to consider him as an MVP.
4. Trevor Lawrence, QB, Jacksonville Jaguars
Trevor Lawrence already has 17 passing touchdowns this year and was an MVP candidate last year. He's on pace to be a candidate again this year and is No. 4 in our power rankings. Lawrence has hit his stride in the NFL with Liam Coen at the helm, and he's keeping it up - he's a very good QB who is probably getting into the conversation with the very best in the league.
The Jacksonville Jaguars are also trending toward their second AFC South title in a row, and Lawrence's prolific production is impossible to ignore. He's another stellar MVP candidate.
