14. Washington Commanders
I actually feel like the arrow is pointing slightly up for the Washington Commanders right now, and the trajectory for the remainder of this season is on a good path so long as Jayden Daniels can stay healthy.
That might be a big question mark at this point, but this team played much more balanced football than we're used to seeing from them against the Eagles, and something seemed to really click for them in the second half against the 49ers a few weeks back.
Even after losing Terry McLaurin to injury, the Commanders have proven they can hang -- on the road -- with arguably the best team in the league right now. Luckily, we won't have to wait very long to see if the signs are actually leading anywhere. The Commanders host the Los Angeles Rams in Week 9, and that game will go a long way in determining the rest of their season.
13. Atlanta Falcons
Nobody can figure out the Atlanta Falcons at this point.
Okay, admittedly, I cannot figure out the Atlanta Falcons at this point.
The Falcons have, at times, looked like they might be one of the better teams in the NFC with a healthy Michael Penix Jr. under center. Then last week, Penix throws four interceptions and the Falcons' defense gives up over 300 yards on the ground against the Buccaneers.
Rain or not, slippery conditions or not, that's disgustingly bad on both accounts.
They're going to get another great test in Madrid on Sunday when they take on the Bengals. We just keep compiling data on this team.
