8. New York Giants
Even though the New York Giants are dominating the NFL rumor mill ahead of the NFL trade deadline like they are a true contender in the NFC this season, I'm simply not buying it.
This team is very much in "believe it when I see it" mode, and the "when I see it" part has everything to do with the eye test. We need more from JJ McCarthy. We need a larger sample from this team overall.
There is a reason why they are trying to add a premier player at the defensive tackle position, or why they are trying to add another weapon at the running back position. The Giants have -- up to this point -- outkicked the coverage without Jaxson Dart in the lineup, and they are justifiably trying to take advantage.
Coming off the bye, the Giants have a road matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles and Joe Milton at the QB position. I suppose we should expect that they will keep on winning, at least for this week.
7. Los Angeles Rams
The Los Angeles Rams have had to deal with a ton of injuries to some of their best players already this season, so any sweeping allegations about this team being a fraud are premature at this point.
The Rams don't exactly play in the type of division where patience can be easily afforded, but they still have plenty of time. And Myles Garrett is getting close to making his return to the field...
Considering Garrett was playing through significant discomfort back in Week 1, his return to the field is not something that should be diminished. If he's back to 100 percent, or even close to it, then he should be considered the most dangerous addition any team could possibly be making this close to the NFL trade deadline.
Even though the Rams are 4-4 right now, I'm still viewing this team as a true contender in the NFC until they lose enough games to prove that idea wrong.
