8. New Orleans Saints, 1-2
The New Orleans Saints are almost 3-0. I know that doesn't count for anything, but it's the truth. They're a successful two-point conversion away from having beaten Detroit, and they were in a decent spot against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 3, but they just could not seal the deal.
The Saints aren't quite there yet, but they are a frisky bunch, and second-year QB Tyler Shough looks the part. It just feels different in New Orleans.
While feelings and 'vibes' won't get a team into the playoffs, I expect we'll see the Saints begin to figure things out more consistently. This team might not win more than 9 games this year, but a 9-8 record would have taken sole possession of the NFC South crown in 2025.
The Saints land at No. 8 in our power rankings. You can tell that the franchise is going in the right direction despite not quite being there yet.
7. Philadelphia Eagles, 2-1
When you talk about embarrassing, flat-out inexcusable losses that can't happen, you talk about what happened with the Philadelphia Eagles. This team doesn't have the bite that they have had in previous seasons. The offense is bad, and the defense has underperformed.
Right now, ask yourself this: what do the Eagles do well...?
Honestly, the answer might be nothing. Luckily for Philly, the NFC East appears to be rather week, so they do have a very good chance to win the division this year, but a lot can change when October and November roll around.
This team has won a ton of games in the Nick Sirianni era, but with the limitations they have on offense thanks to the QB, and the extremely average defense they appear to be deploying, this might not be much of a notable year at all.
