8. Jordan Love, Green Bay Packers

Despite all of the mess that the Green Bay Packers have been in this season, they are now 3-2 and earned a huge win over Chicago in Week 5. Jordan Love was masterful in this one, going 25/31 for 367 yards and two touchdowns. He was sacked twice and finished with a 137.5 passer rating. What is also impressive is that Love did not have a running back run for more than 31 yards, so he was definitely carrying this offense. Love has had to deal with a lot this year, as there have been a ton of injuries on an offensive line that was already shaky to begin with.

But it is quite clear that Love has talent. He checks all the boxes, and if the Packers can build on this going forward, they could seriously turn their season around, but we’d also need to see Love carry the load. He honestly has no choice, too.

7. Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs

Patrick Mahomes has been very good this year. The Kansas City Chiefs are on the bye in Week 5, and it’s the earliest bye that a team can have. This team is 4-0 through their first four games, as the addition of Kenneth Walker III has really helped push this offense into a new dimension.

Mahomes simply does not have to do as much, and it is funny that even a team with the future Hall of Fame Mahomes at the QB position feels the need to go out and spend big-time money on the RB position.

As long as this current trend holds, the Chiefs are going to find themselves right back in the mix in the AFC, and with how wide open the league feels this year, they have as good a chance as any team to make a run.

Much of what Mahomes is doing through the air is being seen after the catch, but he’s still been very efficient and looks like his old self.
