4. Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens
Is Lamar Jackson back? Jackson might be back. The Baltimore Ravens blew out the Colts in Week 1, hanging a 40-burger on the Colts’ defense. Jackson only completed 17 passes, but he had 324 yards through the air and was also able to add a modest 40 rushing yards on just seven carries.
The Ravens dealt with a ton of injuries in the beginning part of the 2025 season, which heavily contributed to the shaky 1-5 start. As long as major injuries don’t suddenly begin to happen, the Ravens should be able to win the AFC North.
It could end up being a two-horse race with them and Cincinnati, as Pittsburgh’s ceiling isn’t nearly high enough. Jackson is also still about one year removed from his ridiculous 2024 season in which many thought he should have won the MVP award.
He has two of those, and if he’s not dealing with injuries himself and is playing as he can, he’ll be atop the MVP discussion. Jackson could continue to earn a solid standing in our QB power rankings.
3. Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams
Matthew Stafford had a disappointing Week 1 showing for Los Angeles, so he’ll take a hit in our QB power rankings. Stafford is the reigning MVP and every bit of an elite passer in this league, and Week 1 is often a liar, so one shaky performance doesn’t mean that Stafford and the Rams won’t achieve much this year.
It’s very likely that this team bounces back in the coming weeks and emerges as the juggernaut that we all know them to be. Stafford is getting closer to 40 years old, so the age could slowly become a concern, but after his insanely prolific 2025 season, I’d be shocked if Stafford was genuinely washed up.
Expect the reigning NFL MVP to stack some strong performances in the coming weeks and remind us why he was the league’s best player last year.
