10. Jared Goff, Detroit Lions

It’s not exactly Jared Goff’s fault that the Detroit Lions’ defense is pathetic. There’s only so much you can do when the defense is giving up 34 first downs and 445 yards to the Bills.
But Goff isn’t exempt from blame, either, because the Lions’ offense was just 4-for-11 on 3rd down plays. He threw for 327 yards against the Bills’ defense, but a good chunk of those yards were in garbage time.
Still, when your QB is throwing for 327 yards, 4 TDs, 0 interceptions, and a passer rating of 130.0, you should win most games.
We saw Goff really lean on Amon-Ra St. Brown against the Bills, and justifiably so. The connection between Goff and Jameson Williams simply hasn’t been there yet this season, and that’s also been a bit of a lid on the Lions’ offense. They need Williams and his big-play ability to help unlock the running game with his threat to take the top off.
9. Bryce Young, Carolina Panthers

Bryce Young has to be considered the biggest “riser” on this week’s list. He was overshadowed in Week 1 because the Panthers’ defense gave up a disgusting 59 points to the Chicago Bears, but in the midst of that high-scoring affair, Young had himself a game as well.
Against Chicago, he had 361 yards passing, 3 touchdowns, and a rushing touchdown. In Week 2 against the Falcons, he followed it up with another stellar performance.
He torched Atlanta’s defense to the tune of 287 passing yards, 3 more touchdowns, and no interceptions.
More than just putting up really solid numbers against a bad team (whose QBs would have been better served throwing the ball into the dirt on every play), Young is making big-time throws and putting the ball in the right spots. He’s throwing guys open, and he’s playing with confidence.
It looks like he might be truly taking that leap we’ve been waiting for after seeing flashes of brilliance last season.
