2. Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs

Yeah, Patrick Mahomes is back. Back back.
This is way beyond what I expected to see out of Mahomes to start the season.
In Week 1 against the Broncos, seeing the way Mahomes was able to use his legs was shocker enough. And even in that first game, we didn’t see the Chiefs do too much in terms of Mahomes unleashing throws deep downfield. Even when he did throw deep against Denver, one of his passes was picked off by Brandon Jones.
Still, Mahomes looked like himself – for the most part – against the Broncos. He made sure everyone in the NFL world knew he had returned with his performance against the Colts.
On Sunday Night Football, Mahomes completed 32-of-47 passes for 382 yards and 3 TD passes. And he was pushing the ball to all levels of the field.
To say Mahomes looked locked in against the Colts would be an understatement. He was out there playing fast, playing with confidence, and playing mistake-free football. It was a vintage Mahomes performance.
Even though he wasn’t hurt all of last year, when Mahomes was healthy in 2025, he was erratic with the football. He was more “human” than ever. He looks back to being superhuman in 2026, and the Chiefs are 2-0 with No. 15 looking back to form. That’s scary for the rest of the NFL.
1. Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills

At this point, there’s really no question about who the best quarterback in the NFL is. There’s no question after two weeks who the best player in the NFL is. Josh Allen is absolutely dominating through the first two games, and he put on an absolute show against the Detroit Lions on Thursday night.
In the first-ever game at the brand-new Highmark Stadium, Allen set about as high of a bar as you possibly can. He finished the game with 248 yards passing, 69 yards rushing, and five total touchdowns (3 passing, 2 rushing).
Through the first two games of the season, Allen has a total of 9 touchdowns. The production is absolutely unreal, and you just can’t help but feel like he’s a man on a mission this season. He has absolutely hit the ground running this season with MVP-level football.
