24. Marcus Mariota, Washington Commanders
How about Marcus Mariota and the Washington Commanders? A huge win in Week 3 gets them their first win without Jayden Daniels this year. Mariota didn’t light things up, but he was an efficient 19/31 for 183 yards and three touchdowns.
Mariota is about as good as you can get as a backup QB in the NFL. The veteran has been around for over 10 years and has seen about as much football as one can see. He’s not going to lead the Commanders into the playoffs or anything if he needed to be the full-time starter, but he’s no slouch.
The Commanders never trailed in this game and scored at least seven points in all four quarters, scoring 17 in the first half and 16 in the second half. With Mariota’s ceiling among the 32 starting QBs rather low, we aren’t going to do anything crazy with his ranking, and the Commanders surely want Daniels back in the lineup as soon as possible.
23. Jordan Love, Green Bay Packers
Jordan Love has thrown two touchdown passes in each game this year and already has 844 passing yards through three games. Just listing those statistics alone would probably have you thinking that Love and the Green Bay Packers look really good so far, right?
Well, no. Love has completed just 52.4 percent of his passes. His passer rating is 83.5, and the Packers are already dealing with a brutal season that might be a wash. The injuries have piled up big-time, as the offensive line might just be the worst in the NFL at the moment.
And even at full strength, it’s not a very good unit. Love hasn’t necessarily played poorly this year, but I am not sure he’s played well. For instances like this, it’s sometimes hard to truly figure out how much of the blame the QB should take. Given what we’ve seen from the Packers thus far, I am not sure Love does deserve to take a ton of the blame.
He’s still a very talented player but is now, suddenly, on a team that may struggle to reach five wins this year if what we saw on Thursday Night Football is how they plan on playing in the 2026 season.
If nothing else, his TD:INT ratio is in a good spot…
