10. Bryce Young, Carolina Panthers
Last week: 21st
Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young is proof of the volatility of lists like this, especially early in the season.
One week he is ranking in or around the top 10 overall. The week before, he didn’t even crack the top 20. What that indicates is obviously that the widespread opinion of Bryce Young has yet to reach any sort of consensus.
More performances like the one we saw against the Detroit Lions on Sunday will go a long way toward building a reputation in the right direction. Young had 329 yards passing and a pair of touchdowns as the Panthers got to 2-2 on the season with a win at home over the Detroit Lions.
It doesn’t feel like that long ago that Young was getting benched for Andy Dalton. Now, he leads the NFL in passing yards. You never know what a little time on the bench will do for a guy.
Young has been hunting with the football. He’s been aggressive. He’s putting the ball in the right spots downfield. He’s proven in his career to be clutch. He’s having the best season of his NFL career so far and after four games, he’s undoubtedly entered into the top 10 discussion.
9. Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams
Last week: 7th
After a brutal and disappointing ending on Sunday night against the Denver Broncos, Matthew Stafford and the Rams got back on the board in Philadelphia. It certainly wasn’t the cleanest game from Stafford, but it never is from teams traveling all the way from the West Coast to play against East Coast teams in the early time slot.
Stafford threw 55 passes in the loss against the Denver Broncos and another 51 passes against the Eagles. He had a pair of interceptions on the day, but put his team in position to win late with some help (and huge plays) from running back Kyren Williams.
Having Puka Nacua back was big for the Rams’ offense, but it also caused Davante Adams to take a huge step back when he was getting red hot.
It’s safe to say, at this point, that we’re not seeing the same exact Matthew Stafford out there for the Rams that we saw last year when he won the MVP. That guy is still in there, somewhere, but it’s been a tougher start to 2026 than expected.
