4. Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys

Last week: 9th

You simply cannot convince me that Dak Prescott is not one of the five best quarterbacks in the NFL right now.

Against the Houston Texans, his greatness was on display.

Prescott may not always be on top of his game, but when he is, few quarterbacks can make the throws he makes to every level of the field with such accuracy and conviction. He put on an absolute masterclass late against the Houston Texans, fighting back against one of the toughest defenses in the league.

You know Prescott had a good day at the office when Javonte Williams has three rushing touchdowns, because that means the Cowboys got into the tight red zone often.

And to do that against a defense like the Texans is not easy, although they’re also having a rough go of things this season.

Prescott threw for 335 yards and was absolutely in MVP form in the Cowboys’ road win against Houston. When Dallas traded for Joey Porter Jr., it was a signal from Jerry Jones that the time to win is now, and his quarterback put the team on his back.

3. Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs

Last week: 5th

Once again, the Kansas City Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes look all the way back this season.

They went into Las Vegas against a charged-up Raiders team and grinded out another AFC West victory. And you can absolutely feel the pressure that has been lifted off of Mahomes’s shoulders with the arrival of Kenneth Walker.

I feel confident in saying that Mahomes has not had a playmaker at the running back position to lean on as good as we’re seeing Walker play so far this season. He was dominant once again in the win against the Raiders.

Mahomes was solid, throwing another pair of touchdown passes but completing just over 50 percent of his throws. One of the biggest developments for Kansas City’s offense this season was the return of the big passing play, in conjunction with the running game absolutely shredding defenses so far.

Unfortunately for Mahomes, he lost Tyquan Thornton and Rashee Rice against the Raiders, and it didn’t look good. Just when he finally started to build some rapport, especially with Thornton…it’s a disappointing development for Mahomes and the Chiefs, but they continue to roll as a team.
