20. Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers

Last week: 22nd

Justin Herbert is struggling badly this season. The Los Angeles Chargers are struggling badly this season.

Yes, it’s true that Herbert’s teammates have let him down plenty of times in the past. It’s also true that his teammates have let him down plenty this season. It’s also true that the Chargers are dealing with a lot of injuries yet again.

However, that doesn’t excuse the fact that Herbert has been one of the most erratic passers downfield in the NFL this season. It’s been rough to watch.

Herbert is consistently billed as one of the most impressive players at his position physically and athletically. He is routinely popping up in top-10 quarterback lists. And there’s no question that he’s capable of making every throw. He’s dangerous with his legs. But is it fair to say, at this point, that the mainstream media overrated him a bit?

Herbert had the Chargers storming back in the second half against the Seahawks on Sunday, but tha damage had already been done.

19. CJ Stroud, Houston Texans

Last week: 19th

Here is the good news for CJ Stroud after Week 4: Nico Collins was back, and he was phenomenal.

The bad news: The Texans are now 0-4 after dropping another game – at home – early in the 2026 season. And on top of it, there is no running game to speak of in Houston right now.

After starting the season 0-3 last year, the Texans were one of the hottest teams in the second half of the season and won 9 straight games before reaching the playoffs as a Wild Card. The problem with flirting with disaster like that is, only 7 teams in the history of the league have overcome an 0-3 start.

Overcoming an 0-4 start is worse, and there is only so much CJ Stroud is going to be able to do without balance offensively. Only one team in the history of the NFL has overcome an 0-4 start to make the playoffs, and it happened back in 1992.

The odds are stacked against Stroud, who bet on himself to earn a big contract after the season. The team’s success – or lack thereof – will play a huge factor in whether or not that happens.
