8. Bryce Young, Carolina Panthers

Last week: 9th

Bryce Young’s resurgence with the Carolina Panthers continues to impress. The latest chapter included 281 yards on Sunday and a pair of touchdowns as Young and the Panthers beat the Philadelphia Eagles on the road.

And to be fair, that Eagles defense gave them some fits throughout, as Young barely completed 50 percent of his throws. But he navigated the pressure well, and he’s just become the 4th quarterback in the last 15 years to have 280 or more passing yards in each of his team’s first five games.

That list includes Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers, and now Bryce Young. It’s absolutely incredible the way he’s developed under Dave Canales, and how he’s progressed after looking like he might be a bust as a #1 overall pick.

7. Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs

Last week: 7th

Some huge news for Patrick Mahomes on Sunday as he became the fastest quarterback since Tom Brady to reach 100 wins. The borderline scary part of that stat is that both guys were 100-31 when they reached that milestone.

Coming off the bye, you expected the Kansas City Chiefs to look really good, but there was always that creeping thought in the back of your mind about a winless and desperate Chargers team making it interesting. They didn’t.

Patrick Mahomes doesn’t really have to do as much these days. He just has to give the ball to Kenneth Walker and let him go crazy with it. As much pressure as Walker has taken off Mahomes so far this year, it’s hard to argue that there has been a better offseason acquisition by any team around the league.

Mahomes made some nice plays in this game, had an ugly interception, and is 5-0. It’s looking like we’re going to see Mahomes and the Chiefs deep into January again.
