22. Jayden Daniels, Washington Commanders

Last week: 25th

Jayden Daniels plays Monday night vs. 49ers

The jokes coming out of last week’s overtime debacle for Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders are simply too good. I can’t take credit for coming up with any of this, but whoever said that Daniels expected the clock to stop with 5 seconds left in overtime out of respect absolutely hit the nail on the head.

All kidding aside, this road game under the lights is an important one for Daniels. The Commanders have a lot of ties to the 49ers, starting with Adam Peters as their general manager, so there is at least some familiarity with this opponent.

The problem is, the 49ers look like a runaway freight train and the Commanders are just desperate for any win at all at this point. How will Daniels do with Fred Warner out there hunting him? I have no doubt that he can go out there and make enough plays to pull off an upset, but Dan Quinn needs to make sure his players know how much time is left in the game.

21. Bo Nix, Denver Broncos

Last week: 17th

Bo Nix has not been good enough so far in the 2026 season for the Denver Broncos. At this point, he’s shown so much regression from last season that you can’t help but wonder if he’s not still feeling at least some of the mental effects of being injured in the playoffs against Buffalo.

The Broncos engineered multiple long, impressive drives in the first half against the Seahawks on Thursday, but it was basically just a punting party in the second half.

Nix’s unwillingness to throw the ball down the field pales in comparison (in my mind) to his unwillingness to make plays with his legs. That was such a critical element of his game in the past.

I’m still believing that Nix is not playing up to his full potential as opposed to showing his true colors, but he’s certainly one of the most polarizing players in the league right now. The bottom line is, he has to play better.
