18. Kyler Murray, Minnesota Vikings
Last week: 16th
Kyler Murray is on a BYE in Week 6***
We have yet to see anything truly spectacular from Kyler Murray this year, but the vision is starting to come to fruition, at least a little bit.
The Vikings are one of the best teams in the NFL at 5-0, they are on their bye week, and the play of Brian Flores’s defense has given Murray the privilege of having enormous margin for error, which is a luxury most quarterbacks dont have.
Still, he’s coming off arguably his best game yet as a member of the Vikings with 229 yards and a touchdown, completing 80 percent of his throws against the Saints on the road. That came after ocmpleting over 73 percent of his throws against the Dolphins.
The competition will get tougher, but for now, Murray has done a solid job.
17. Sam Darnold, Seattle Seahawks
Last week: 13th
I still think Sam Darnold has set a new “floor” for himself as a player since winning the starting job with the Vikings a couple of seasons ago, but sometimes, the “old” Sam Darnold seems to pop up.
That’s been happening a little too often this season as Darnold and the Seahawks are one of the worst offenses in the NFL when it comes to giving the ball away. I’ll bet he’s wishing the Seahawks would have at least franchise tagged Kenneth Walker right about now.
Darnold tried to mount a late comeback in Denver on Thursday night, and nearly pulled it off despite throwing an interception late in regulation. But he gave the ball right back to the Broncos with another interception on the opening drive of overtime.
Darnold is still plenty capable of leading the Seahawks to wins, but he’s got to start taking better care of the football or the cries for Drew Lock – no, seriously – are going to get louder.
