2. Baker Mayfield, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Baker Mayfield plays on Monday Night Football
With the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ defense not playing all that well this season, what Baker Mayfield has done is outstanding, and I do believe this is someone who could win the MVP award in the 2025 season. We just talked about the resurgence of Sam Darnold over the past couple of seasons, and Mayfield is a similar story.
After essentially being thrown away by the Cleveland Browns, Mayfield bounced around a bit and settled in with the Buccaneers in the 2023 NFL Season. He’s been one of the most productive QBs in the NFL since and could lead the Bucs to a huge win over the Detroit Lions in Week 7 on Monday Night Football.
With Tampa sitting at 5-1, a one-game lead over the Lions, this win could really put Tampa in a great spot to earn the top seed in the NFC for the playoffs, and it’d also be quite hard to envision the Bucs not winning the NFC South with a 6-1 start.
If this defense can shore up a bit, the Buccaneers could make a Super Bowl run, and there is no indication that Mayfield plans on slowing down anytime soon.
1. Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys
There really isn’t a QB playing better than Dak Prescott right now. He’s thrown 13 touchdown passes against zero interceptions across the last four games and would honestly be seen as the MVP favorite if his defense could just be average. Prescott and the Cowboys did earn a huge win over the Washington Commanders in Week 7 and improved to 3-3-1 on the season.
This team can score at-will, and it’s due to their QB. However, the run game has come alive with Javonte Williams, and the prolific WR duo of CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens absolutely helps things.
Prescott gets a lot of flak simply because he’s on the Cowboys, but he’s always been very efficient and a player who can process the position faster than most in the NFL. He rises to no. 1 in our QB rankings as his insane season continues.
