New York Jets
The 2026 New York Jets had a disastrous year in Aaron Glenn's first year as head coach, going 3-14. While Glenn was retained, he undoubtedly enters the 2026 season on the hot seat. While a change at head coach wasn't made this offseason, New York made several offseason changes that they hope will have a major impact.
On the coaching side, Frank Reich takes over the offense, and Glenn will assume play-calling for his defense. Roster additions include quarterback Geno Smith, safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, linebacker Demario Davis, and rookie edge rusher David Bailey. Let's hope New York's offseason changes can save Glenn's job in 2026.
Philadelphia Eagles
The divorce between Hurts and Brown was made official this offseason when Brown was traded to the New England Patriots. Hurts and Brown had great moments together, most notably winning Super Bowl 59. But now Hurts and this Philadelphia Eagles offense will operate without the 3-time pro-bowler in 2026, raising questions about whether Hurts can succeed without his long-time top target.
This Philadelphia offense was rather pedestrian last season, finishing 19th in points and 24th in yards. Per the request of pretty much every Eagles fan, offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo was fired and replaced by Sean Mannion, who will run a Shanahan-style offense that emphasizes wide-zone run concepts and play-action. This change will require Hurts to be under center much more, deviating from his comfort zone in shotgun.
Will Mannion's new system prove beneficial for Hurts, or will the combination of losing his top target and learning a new offense be too difficult to overcome? Hurts will be under a very bright spotlight this upcoming season.
Pittsburgh Steelers
Mike McCarthy returns to coaching this season as the Pittsburgh Steelers' head coach. McCarthy will have a familiar face at quarterback, with Aaron Rodgers returning to Pittsburgh for his 22nd and final season in the league. Will this be a typical farewell tour where Rodgers and the Steelers limp to a 9-8 season, or will Pittsburgh be a serious contender in the AFC?
McCarthy confirmed that he will call plays for this Steelers offense. During their 13 seasons together in Green Bay, the duo reached the postseason nine times and won Super Bowl XLV, while Rodgers won two MVPs in 2011 and 2014. Can this duo rekindle the chemistry they once had in Green Bay?
On paper, this offense has the pieces. DK Metcalf, Michael Pittman Jr., and rookie Germie Bernard from Alabama make for a high-floor receiver room, while Jaylen Warren and free-agent signing Rico Dowdle give Pittsburgh an intriguing combination in the backfield. This offensive line is less proven, however, and will be crucial to making Rodgers comfortable.
It's unreasonable to expect McCarthy and Rodgers to replicate the success they had in Green Bay, but it'll be satisfying to see the two together again in Pittsburgh.
San Francisco 49ers
San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey finished with the most touches in 2025, with 413. Despite his workload, McCaffrey played in all 17 games for San Francisco. That level of availability has been somewhat rare for McCaffrey, as he has played 7 games or fewer in 3 of the last 6 years.
This offense undoubtedly runs through McCaffrey, making the possibility of San Francisco having to operate without its star running back a scary one. The depth behind McCaffrey is inexperienced, with second-year player Jordan James and rookie Kaelon Black out of Indiana.
If McCaffrey can duplicate his durability this upcoming season, this offense should be
elite once again. But if McCaffrey, entering his age 30 season, succumbs to the workload and potentially misses a large chunk of the season, it could derail San Francisco's season.
