The first edition of Sunday Night Football will feature the New York Giants hosting the Dallas Cowboys in an NFC East battle. Dallas established itself as one of the league's best passing offenses last year, finishing with the second-most passing yards and second-best EPA per pass in 2025. Led by quarterback Dak Prescott with wide receivers George Pickens and CeeDee Lamb on the outside, this Cowboys passing attack is a bad matchup for anyone they go up against, especially a Giants defense led by a new defensive coordinator.
Former Tennessee Titans defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson will lead this unit in 2025. Tennessee ran the ninth-most zone coverage in the league last year, giving us a hint of what this defense could look like in New York. How this Giants defense holds up against Dallas' high-flying offense will be one of the most interesting matchups to watch in this game.

Denver Broncos @ Kansas City Chiefs, 8:15 PM ET
We conclude Week 1 with an AFC West showdown as the Denver Broncos travel to Arrowhead Stadium to take on the Kansas City Chiefs. This one seems obvious. With Patrick Mahomes reportedly likely to start on Monday, everyone will be glued to their screens to see how Mahomes, recovering from an ACL injury, performs against an excellent Denver defense.
Denver's defense was not only conventionally good in 2025, ranking fifth in EPA per play, but also pressured opposing quarterbacks at the league's third-highest rate. That pressure could force Mahomes to move around more than he'd like, giving us an early look at how comfortable he is on the recovering knee.
