19. Chicago Bears - Princely Umanmielen, EDGE, Ole Miss

It’s been long thought that the Chicago Bears have been and still are missing one more difference-maker along the defensive front.  They traded for Montez Sweat during the 2023 NFL Season, and it’s clear that Bears General Manager Ryan Poles made the right move in trading for Sweat, as the entire defense played better.

All of a sudden, after the Bears draft Princely Umanmielen with pick 19, they could field one of the better defensive lines in all of football.  I’ll be the first to admit that I had no idea what Ryan Poles was trying to do, but it’s clear that this roster is trending in the right direction.

The Chicago Bears could also use some interior offensive line help as well, so that could be an early target for them.  Can the Bears make the playoffs in the 2024 NFL Season?

20. Atlanta Falcons - Malaki Starks, S, Georgia

The Atlanta Falcons recently signed a one-year contract with free agent safety Justin Simmons, but Simmons is obviously only a temporary fix.  For the long-term it is quite imperative that the Falcons continue to prioritize the backend of their defense.  The team just extended AJ Terrell and could add yet another young body into this unit with Malaki Starks, a safety from Georgia.

Falcons GM Terry Fontenot also swung a trade for veteran EDGE rusher Matthew Judon, formerly of the New England Patriots, so he is clearly trying to make a run at something in 2024, but with Kirk Cousins at QB, it’s unclear what that something could be.

Likely backing up Kirk Cousins in 2024 and beyond is 2024 rookie Michael Penix Jr. In my opinion, he Falcons will win around 10 games in the 2024 NFL Season and also come away with the NFC South title.
