3 NFL teams who desperately need a new QB in 2024
2. Washington Commanders
Sam Howell began his second season in the NFL on an encouraging note, but he's really regressed as a passer this year and has thrown a whopping 19 interceptions on just 20 touchdown passes. Over Howell's first eight games of the 2023 NFL Season, he threw 13 touchdown passes against eight interceptions at had a 90.1 passer rating at one point.
Since then, however, he's thrown seven touchdown passes against 11 interceptions for a lowly passer rating of 67.8. He was actually benched for Week 17 before a last-minute injury by Jacoby Brissett, the backup, forced Howell back into the lineup. Well, the Commanders currently hold the second overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, so they are in prime position to draft a QB.
And with head coach Ron Rivera likely out the door in 2024, the Commanders have a perfect chance to reset their franchise with a new head coach and a viable young QB. Washington has been irrelevant for years, and it's mainly been due to inept ownership and inconsistent QB play. Well, the team has a new ownership group in place and have a chance to land a top QB prospect.
Things could be looking up for this team in 2024.
